Steel Building Panel Types
All steel buildings use metal panels to form both the walls and the roof. There are several types of steel building panels to choose from:
PB panels. PB stands for purlin-bearing. PB panels feature an extended leg on the underlapping edge. This provides extra reinforcement for both walls and roofs, and make the panels easier to align during fastening.
PBR panels.
PBR stands for purlin-bearing rib. PBR panels are the panel of choice for steel building roofs and feature two or more smaller ribs between the fastening ribs.
PBA panels.
PBA stands for purlin-bearing architectural. PBA panels feature a profile that partially conceals the fasteners. Because of the decorative shadow pattern created by PBA panels, they are sometimes called shadow panels.
PBU panels.
PBU panels are often used for the interior walls of steel buildings, also called liner panels. Liner panels hide the steel framing components on the inside.
